NUFLEX™ Technology is our patented formula that combines a powerful antioxidant with micro-hyaluronic acid to nourish, soothe and revitalize aging skin. Developed by a team of scientists at Clemson University, NUFLEX™:
The skin’s dermis includes 3 critical components; collagen for skin strength, hyaluronic acid to provide hydration and elastin which is solely responsible for giving our skin elasticity and resilience. These components make a strong matrix that keep the skin strong, supple and hydrated. Age, oxidation and pollutants damage the skin's matrix structure leading to wrinkles and sagging skin.
Our bodies naturally restore collagen and hyaluronic acid every day and there are plenty of products that can also help supplement these essential skin components. Unfortunately, we stop building elastin at age 15 and prior to our scientific breakthrough, there was no way of repairing or rebuilding damaged elastin by cells.
Most skincare products will lead to temporary improvements in your skin but the benefits are quickly undone when we are exposed to outside elements. This leads to a never-ending cycle of skin getting nourished and then damaged over-and-over again. Many of these same products also contain oils that sit on top of the skin, trapping in the free radicals causing oxidation that lead to skin distortions, such as crow’s feet, laugh lines, and sagging jowls.
Neolastin, powered by NUFLEX™ Technology, protects the skin from outside dangers and supports the body’s natural ability to rebuild and strengthen our skin from the inside out. Over time, Neolastin unlocks the skin’s full potential by harnessing the power of science to combat the signs of aging to deliver transformational results.
THE INVENTOR OF NUFLEX™ TECHNOLOGY
Dr. Vyavahare is Chief Scientific Officer at Neolastin. He is also Director of NIH-funded South Carolina Bioengineering Center of Regeneration and Formation of Tissues (SC BioCRAFT).
Dr. Vyavahare is a world-leading, renowned expert in the areas of cardiovascular research and elastin revitalization. After decades of research to find solutions to reverse elastin loss in connective tissues, he discovered polyphenols like PGG could prevent elastin degradation and support cells to repair and rebuild it. Neolastin is the first to bring this innovation to skincare through our patented NUFLEX™ Technology.
With 15 International and US patents, Dr. Vyavahare's research is published in 160+ journal publications and conference proceedings, as well as seven book chapters. Dr. Vyavahare attracted ~$32M NIH research funding at Clemson over the last 20 years and is the recipient of many awards including; McQueen Quattlebaum Faculty Excellence Award, Faculty mentoring award, and Alumni award for outstanding achievement in research, Clemson University.
In a career that has spanned 30 years, Dr. Vyavahare’s research has been focused on elastin, a rubber band-like protein dominant in the the tissues of our lungs, arteries and skin that allows these organs to expand and retract. The body’s ability to repair elastin diminishes with age and the loss of elastin is accelerated by oxidation, inflammation and pollutants that cause tissues to lose elasticity. Through his research, Dr. Vyavahare discovered that a specific antioxidant called PGG would bind to elastin and support its maintenence. Taking it a step further, he paired the PGG with a novel micro-hyaluronic delivery system which would allow cells to support new elastic fiber and strengthen the tissue. The discovery has been patented and is now being used to repair lung tissue in patients with COPD, restore damaged arteries and repair damaged skin.
